About the Teacher

I'm Tsh Oxenreider (students often call me “Mrs. O”), and as a long-time homeschooling parent of three kids (one of whom is now in college), I've been teaching adolescents in the classroom setting for seven years. I've got a BA in English Literature & Anthropology from the University of Texas, but I credit 99% of my real education to an ongoing deep-dive into the world’s Great Books.

We're hardwired to learn best through stories, and I believe the greatest ones have something to tell us about ourselves, the world, and the Maker of it all. Living books are the ones that have stood the test of time and stand apart as transcendent from their origin story because they say something timeless: that is, they say something true, good, and beautiful.

2025-26 Classes

  • Idaeon

    One classical salon-style class that provides two and a half (2.5) full high school credits: English (literature and composition), history, and either art history or logic/rhetoric (elective). As an integrated humanities program, this class uses a chronological timeline over three years as the “spine” to lead us through great books and ideas.

  • Scriptorium (spring 2026)

    A semester-long class that covers the basics of good story structure and creative writing. Students will practice writing, peer critique and editing, and what it takes to get a story from idea to published paper. They’ll end with an original short story or chapter from a novel they can then seek for publication, add to their college transcript and application, or hang with pride on the fridge. This provides either a semester elective or half-credit English composition class.

FAQs

  • No — Scholé Hall is a homeschool community that solely offers a la carte classes. Your student may take only one or in as many classes as possible! Class tuition includes any overhead or additional fees normally found in enrollment.

  • Grades are provided in each class for each student, but as the homeschooling parent, if is up to you to decide what to do with them. You'll have easy access to your student's grades, and I'll let you know if I sense your student is struggling. At the end of the school year, it's up to you, the parent, to officially decide what credits your student has earned from each class and to record them on their transcript.

  • Signing up for a class with me is a commitment. I offer a penalty-free cancellation for three weeks so students and parents can get a feel for the course. After this, if you decide to transfer, move, or drop the class, you must pay half of the full year’s remaining tuition. Without this policy, I cannot keep smaller classes profitable or beneficial. Thank you for understanding!
